Installation

  •     I'm giving/throwing away my old handset; can I use my old account for my new handset?
    • Yes, you can. As long as you are using a device that Nokia has chosen to pre-bundle with WaveSecure, just run the program, and when asked whether you are a new user, answer NO, and then you will be prompted to enter your existing username and PIN, your new handset will then 'take over' the existing account from your old handset. Tip: you can simply restore all your data such as contacts, SMS, etc. to your new handset - makes changing phone really easy!

Using WaveSecure

  •     Which handsets does WaveSecure support?
    • Please refer to http://nokia.wavesecure.com/phones.aspx for the full list. Please note that this portal is exclusively for owners of selected Nokia devices in India, who can get WaveSecure for free. •     Can I customize WaveSecure to suit my mobile usage patterns and preferences?
    • Yes, you can. WaveSecure offers you a range of customizable settings. For instance, you can configure the setting to automatically lock whenever the SIM card is replaced (because this would most likely imply the handset is stolen). However, if you have more than one SIM that you use often, you can add additional Safe SIMs that will not trigger the locking. WaveSecure also enables you to back up different type of data the way you want it. For example, you can set it to automatically back up your crucial data such as contacts and messages.

Locking

  •     What's the difference between my handset's built-in lock and WaveSecure's lock?
    • Other than the fact that ours is prettier, it is also more informative, allowing you to customize the message to be displayed. You can offer a reward, threaten the person who took it, or be as polite as you can be in the message. More importantly, it enables you to remotely lock down the handset, or automatically lock down base on detection of threats such as SIM change, this enables you to use the phone without having to put in a PIN everytime you make a phone call, and yet gives you the ability to make sure your phone is protected when it's out of your hands.

Tracking

  •     I have the handset thief's number, what can I do?
    • You can choose to call the person who took your handset and advise him to return the handset back to you, failing that, you can also file a report with the police and use the tracking information as evidence. There really are many things you can do with WaveSecure to help you track down the thief and get back your phone, just use your creativity!

  •     So what does WaveSecure Track?
    • WaveSecure helps you track down every detail of the activities in your handset. You can easily track any new SIM cards inserted into your handset by visiting the Track page. You can also use the backup feature to track down all the SMS sent/received, incoming/outgoing phone calls, etc. This can help you keep a record of your own usage, or track down the thief's identity in case of theft.

  •     Can I track the geographical location of my handset?
    • The current version of WaveSecure does not track the geographical location of your handset, although it is something that we are working on for the future. Tracking enables you to view the number of the new inserted SIM card and can then contact the person and persuade him/her to return your handset. You can also track usage like SMS sent/received or phone calls made, and may report this to police as evidence.
